Exploring Thailand

Started today with another glorious American style breakfast in the hotel of Amora in downtown Chiang Mai. Shortly after we packed up the tour bus and continued our adventure through downtown, we eventually arrived back at the Star Fish school. Our first stop once we arrived back was to visit the kids within their classes, which was the same as gaining celebrity status amongst the kids. Given the choice of classrooms we wanted to visit I found most of my time within the math room because of my accounting major. I found myself as the student in their math class as it had been at least 10 years since I had learned the types of problems they were working on.

After some time of relearning 5th grade math we once again packed ourselves in the vans and made our way to a temple within a cave. One of the only caves I had ever been in and it was still absolutely amazing. From the erosion and some slight man made carvings/statues, the cave was spectacular. Walking through all I could think about was the National Treasure movies and how proud Nicholas Cage would be of me for doing this kind of exploring. What seemed liked it stretched on forever, the cave finally came to an end and we made our way around the grounds around the cave and the temple. The next temple we visited was right after and far in the mountians. After hundreds of steps and carrying food for the monks living up there we finally got to see what all the sweat and tired arms were for. The view was amazing, over looking the valley in between mountains and the fog and rain that had formed around the mountains made it look so beautiful that it almost seemed fake. We basked in the view and then made our way back down the stairs and regrouped within the vans making our way back to the school.

We then ate our dinners and had a meeting with one of Dicks long time friends, we were able to ask questions we had about the school and schools future to help give ourselves a better understanding of the behind the scenes. After a long day of being explorers it was finally time to clock out and call it a night to get ready for the next day.
